I’ve had this problem lately, probably for a year or so, that I can’t seem to watch any type of romance movie or any type that has anything to do with relationships. I am and have been so frustrated with my own relationships that I can’t stomach watching them; good, bad, real or fake. Therefore, have stuck mostly with horrors and thrillers. Those are pretty safe picks.
Last night I felt brave and watched two movies. Both of which are included in the Comedy category so I figured I could hack it. I recommend these movies.
The first movie I watched was Bridesmaids. I laughed, I cried…and cried. Don’t assume that this movie will make you cry. I definitely have issues. Deep emotional issues. The movie is a really great chick flick! It’s very funny and entertaining. Every time I got up for a drink or something I made sure to press pause which differs from the movies I feel that can go on without me for a minute or two.
Melissa McCarthy is, as usual, hilarious.
Now for my explanation of why I sobbed like a friggin’ baby. Annie, who is the maid of honor in the movie, seems to have one difficulty after another. (Because I don’t want to spoil the movie I won’t go into detail) I couldn’t help but fear that I could be her, if not now, sometime this decade. She too is hilarious and a little off the wall, single, almost 40 and struggling with life. She’s also blond which didn’t help me in my painful comparison of the two of us. We don’t even have all that much in common but she sure did rip my emotions out of me in the form of a god dam free fall of tears.
Great movie and we were due for a good chick comedy.
The second movie I watched was 50/50. It is about a 27 year old who learns he has spinal cancer. Along for the ride is his best friend who is played by Seth Rogen.
Due to my overly sensitive nature this movie also made me cry but it sure made me laugh too. I am a fan of Seth Rogen and his barbaric humor. He had me laugh out loud many times during this movie as well as fill me with the warm and fuzzies.
