Recently my reed diffuser oil ran out but I obviously still had the glass jar and reeds that came with it.
Being on a tight budget I wanted to be able to make my own. I also thought tweaking the scent to what I really like would be cool. I find a lot of them kind of stinky however, I love the Satsuma scent. That is my favourite.
The recipe is simple:
You’ll need scented oil-essential oil and Dipropylene glycol.
When purchasing the dipropylene glycol be sure to look for the fragrance grade.
For every 1 part of essential oil add 3 parts dipropylene glycol. That’s it! EASY!
Ex. 1 ounce of essential oil would be mixed with 3 ounces of dipropylene glycol.
You may decide to choose your oil based on your favourite scent or you may favour a scent based on the therapeutic aspect. Lavendar is said to help you sleep. Peppermint is said to aid your focus and concentration. The list goes on and on.
I have placed a few choices of essential oils at the bottom of this post however, there are many to choose from and you may want to blend different scents together. There are plenty of recipes or you may choose to invent your own blend.
I am going to use Vanilla, it is also said to help in relaxation and I just love to whiff it. 🙂
