Toxic Friends
Whoooosh! This is me coming back with a ‘whooshing’ noise.
I’m going to give a glimpse into my past couple of months. Normally it would seem way too personal and embarrassing to put on here so I wouldn’t even consider it but you know what? F*ck it! This post is a dedication to sharing T.M.I.(Too Much Information).
In the spirit of T.M.I. I’m going to give a lot of it, as much as I can. Hopefully I’ll be able to keep your attent
Here goes post #1…
You may remember the post about decorating a room I was going to be renting. There was never an update…
This was because from the day I moved in there (to who’s house I thought was a great friend of mine) I started getting treated like sh*t.
Stupid things like I didn’t wash the floor properly-at least I washed the GD thing! Never getting a single thank you for doing the TONS of dishes almost daily-this stopped when I finally got pissed off about it.
I hardly ate the food, mostly bought my own although it was part of the agreement that food would be included. I cleaned constantly, dusting, disinfecting/sanitizing and tried to stay out of the way for the most part.
The little dog that lived there had a little problem with urinating and excrement’s in the house every day. Nobody seemed to care about this and the best part is that it was more often than not right outside my bedroom door. It was freakin’ wonderful waking up to the smell of dog piss. No problem, I thought to myself. I’ve had dogs most of my life so I’m pretty good at cleaning the carpet so I’d clean it and I’d clean it and I’d clean it some more. I couldn’t get the smell out and my nose is pretty sensitive so I thought I’d use the ever popular solution of baking soda. Pour it on the rug and let it pull out any moisture and stench then later, vacuum it up…
Well…hellllll no, this wasn’t acceptable. The owner of the house would come home and ask in a disgustingly rude tone what was on the carpet. Baking soda I’d say and she’d start to grunt and moan and get down on her hands and needs to scrub it out. Are you f*cking serious?!?! You can handle the smell of piss and not do a dam thing about it but you’ll get angry when I put baking soda on the floor. OK, wow.
Then one day the owner decided that she’d go away for the weekend with her two kids and leave the dog at home. I had tried not to stay there whenever possible so for her to assume I’d even be there to watch the dog was really stupid. When I left my cat there during my sleepovers elsewhere I’d go back during the day to feed her. One day her bowl was full of maggots because I stupidly assumed she’d be fed when I couldn’t get back there on one occasion. I cried. I was at my wits end. Anyway, late that particular night I came home and my headlights caught the eyes of my cat who was sitting on the deck. What the hell was Peaches doing outside?
I went in to look for the dog, not anywhere to be found I would naturally assume that she came back to pick the dog up as it was no secret that I often didn’t stay at home. Still though, weird that Peaches was out. The sliding doors in the owners bedroom had a ripped screen and the glass door had been left open. No biggie, now I just know for next time that Peaches is getting brave and will use that as a door.
The dog also went out, I can only assume they went out together. (The dog seemed to love Peaches and would always stay near her in my bedroom when they were home alone together). I didn’t know the dog went out and took a stroll, I believed she picked her dog up being that she wasn’t coming home.
I was referred to as such a twit and irresponsible and this and that and a horrible person because I let the dog out and didn’t bother to look for her. Um What?!?! Alright, I’ve really f*cking had it now. The owner then proceeded to deny that there was ever any hole in the screen and that Peaches must have made it to which I replied that I had noticed the hole several times before while laying on the deck attached to those doors.
(The dog was found btw at a neighbours and came back bathed and groomed and looking great)
The stress was really getting to me so when I was asked to go home for a visit to my home town I didn’t even have to think about it, I packed a bag and loaded Peaches into my car and took off. I ended up staying for 3 weeks because I did NOT want to go back there and during my visit home I made arrangements to move my things out of the house and move into a new place.
I got back on a Thursday, excited to move the next day. I got to the house only to discover that it had been seized by the bank the week before. The owner of the house did not even attempt to notify me of this. Not an email, not a facebook message, not a text or call…nothing.
Now I’m not only thoroughly pissed off but confused, who the hell would do that?
After a week of bullsh*t and sleeping on a mat like a dog on a floor I was finally able to move my things. I’m now in a new place and completely relieved to be rid of that stress.
For six years I had known this woman and never had a bad thought about her until the day I moved my things in there. At home she was a different person. Dr. Jekyll/ Mr. Hyde kind of different.
Another friendship bites the dust. I’m not upset though, I don’t want people who treat me like that in my life. The offer to rent and move in there was in the first place supposed to be helpful and generous and it was, until I discovered what I had to endure while being there. Kind of takes the niceness away when you’re made to feel like such a turd and being badmouthed behind your back.
I don’t get it and I won’t bother trying.
Here’s to T.M.I! Woot! Woot!
Be strong and don’t let toxic friends bring you down.
